All-In-One DJ Kit Demo (Responsive Environments, Coursework 2, Phase 3)

(April 2018- May 2018)

This is a demo of an all-in-one DJ kit application, made for the Responsive Environments module in trimester 2 of my 3rd year at university. This application provides DJs the means to play an electronic drum-kit, keyboard, and sampler, whilst hosting visuals, all within one application. I created this application to further my knowledge of visual programming, and to produce a light-hearted musical application. I recorded the videos used in the application and carried out the field recordings for use with these clips. The other sounds made by the application were library samples. I then edited, processed, and mixed the audio. The audio was prepared in Ardour, the application itself was made in Max 7 using visual programming, and the video was edited in Shotcut.
Bet Kinect App (Sound Design 2)

(Jan 2018- May 2018)

This is a betting app prototype intended for the Xbox Kinect which was made for the Sound Design 2 module in trimester 2 of my 3rd year at university. This app is designed to be an extension of the SkyBet range of products. I chose this as my project focus because of a clear gap in the market, and to create a bridge between the world of gambling and adult gaming. I designed this using linear media. I performed and recorded the Foley, recorded spot effects, created sounds through synthesis, performed field recordings and performed and recorded vocals. I then edited and processed the audio. The audio was prepared in Pro Tools, and the video was edited in Shotcut.
Video and Photo Art Application Demo (Responsive Environments, Coursework 2, Phase 2)

(Mar 2018- Apr 2018)

This is a demo of a video and photo art application, which was made for the Responsive Environments module in trimester 2 of my 3rd year at university. The user can choose from 6 well- known locations in Edinburgh by hitting the corresponding buttons on the interface, which reveal video footage and photos of their chosen location. The videos and photos change over time, making them seem more like artworks. I created this application to further my knowledge of visual programming, and to produce an app that shows my favourite spots in Edinburgh and portrays videos and pictures of them as art pieces. I recorded the videos and took the pictures used in the application. I then edited the videos and pictures. I carried out the field recordings used for the videos clips and edited, processed, and mixed all audio. I programmed the application using visual programming software. In addition, I also edited all videos. The audio was prepared in Ardour, the application itself was made in Max 7, and the videos were edited in Shotcut.
Audio Postcard Demo (Responsive Environments, Coursework 2, Phase 1)

(Feb 2018- Mar 2018)

This is a demo of an audio postcard application, which was made for the Responsive Environments module in trimester 2 of my 3rd year at university. The postcard’s envelope can be opened to reveal the audio postcard itself. Pressing the sole button starts the audio, which sonically transports the user to Princes Street, in the city centre of Edinburgh. The application uses randomisation in several forms, to produce experiences that are unique to each play. I created this application to further my knowledge of visual programming, and to produce an app that reimagines the rather tired physical format of regular postcards. I recorded the base ambience myself and used library samples for the spot effects. I also edited, processed, and mixed all audio. I programmed the application using visual programming software. In addition, I also edited the video. The audio was prepared in Ardour, the application itself was made in Max 7, and the video was edited in Shotcut.
